The parliament looks pretty good. A minority, which I always prefer. Minority parliaments are much less likely to have something truly stupid rammed through.
The Liberals have been sent to the woodshed. Paul Martin has stated he will step down.
The NDP were given a much larger number of seats to stand up for progressive social policies.
The Conservatives have been given a very tenuous minority, one that will allow them to work on electoral reform, and similar issues that will find all party support, but they will not be allowed to attack any so-con crap without knowing they'll get their asses handed to them. I'm looking forward to a second vote on same sex marriage now. hehehe. No matter how you run the numbers they'll lose that vote.
With the auditor generals report on the gun registry program coming out in March, I even think there's a good chance we'll get some reform on the Firearms Act, probably along the lines of the NFA's Practical Firearms Control System (PDF link).
Yeah, given what could have happened, I'm relatively pleased. I've also had a lot of beer and popcorn tonight, so I may look back and not be quite as pleased.
Spending that 1200 child Bonus are you LOL yeah right!
i am fairly happy considering the work I did to get folks to vote, not that it made a difference in my Riding...
