Personal Stuff

I am soooo middle class and mid-thirties. It's sad really.

I'm missing my sister's wedding in Ontario. Ilana is marrying Ian tomorrow. Congratulations! (I know she reads this, so she'll see that at some point) It sucks that I can't be there, but it just wasn't going to happen without me giving up some luxuries like food and running water. That's the middle class part.

The middle thirties part is that I've returned to the gym, but with that realization that I am not, I repeat NOT, one of the pretty young people. Yeah, that's just not good for the ego.

On another note...

I've discovered a couple of interesting sites where people are discussing urban design. As an avid fan of both urbanism, and ruralism, and a huge foe of the suburbs, it's kind of interesting to see how other people see the urban form. The first is VibrantVictoria.ca , and the other is Skyscraper.com. Some of the more radical anarchists that read this may find that supporting higher densities in downtown areas may be a little, how shall I put this... questionable, but I like cities, and high density is what makes cities walkable and liveable. Fatscapers, large low rises, huge setbacks, demands for huge amounts of parking are the hallmarks of car culture. Better a hundred story building downtown than paving over 100 acres for a suburb....
